Adult Winter Reading Program...
The fifth annual Adult Winter Reading Program officially started January 14th and ends April 15th. The theme this year is "Hot Reads for Cold Nights!" Like last year, the goal is to read nine titles on different topics; such as, read a romance to warm the heart; a good read set in the American South; one that involves wine; or, "some food for literary comfort." As always, there will be numerous reading lists to help inspire the participants. The finishers win a prize (a mug), along with a raffle with a chance to win an additional prize (scarves from Turkey purchased there by yours truly). Join in the fun! Go to the Reference Desk for more information or call Brian at (805) 461-6162. |
E-Books are here...
Welcome to the green world of e-books! Electronic Books, that is, reading a popular fiction or nonfiction work on your PC or portable e-book reader is now available through the library. The vendor, Overdrive, offers over 1,200 e-book titles through that vendor directly. In addition, Overdrive just added many titles from Gutenberg to the collection. This new service contains some 15,000 titles in the public domain, which means titles by authors such as Melville, Dickens, Tolstoy or Austen should be readily available as well. For more information, check out the San Luis Obispo County Library website. |
