Reading to Captain...
Fridays (twice a month)
Captain the dog with children 3:30 - 4:30 PM

Call 461-6161 for dates.

Join Captain, a 6 year old tan and white rough-coated Jack Russell Terrier and his human friend Anne Harris, for a relaxed hour of stories. Captain enjoys being part of the "Reading to Rover" program at the library and loves it when children read to him and the children have a good time as well. He is certified as a therapy dog and besides visiting the library he goes to convalescent and care facilities. Captain always seems to know who is in the most need of a visit from a friendly, gentle, and quiet little dog.

Reading to Dexter...
Tuesdays (twice a month)
Dexter 3:00 - 4:00 PM

Call 461-6161 for dates.

A new friend is anxiously waiting to visit the Atascadero Library so he can hear children read to him. Dexter, certified as a Pet Partner through the Delta Society, loves taking walks, playing with his buddies, eating, sleeping and cuddling. He now will add listening to stories as his latest hobby.

E-Books are here...

Welcome to the green world of e-books! Electronic Books, that is, reading a popular fiction or nonfiction work on your PC or portable e-book reader is now available through the library. The vendor, Overdrive, offers over 1,200 e-book titles through that vendor directly. In addition, Overdrive just added many titles from Gutenberg to the collection. This new service contains some 15,000 titles in the public domain, which means titles by authors such as Melville, Dickens, Tolstoy or Austen should be readily available as well. For more information, check out the San Luis Obispo County Library website.
